About Research Topic

Visibility in the outdoor scene drastically decreases due to the presence of aerosol particles (such as haze, mist, fog) in the atmosphere. Moreover, most of the computer vision algorithms usually expect that the input image is captured in a clean environment. However, the presence of aerosol particles reduces the visibility of the image. Also, it degrades the performance of computer vision algorithms such as object detection, person re-identification, and semantic segmentation, etc. Thus, single image haze removal is a highly desirable pre-processing task to improve the performance of computer vision algorithms in the hazy environment.

My Research Objectives are as follows :

  • A short-term goal is to design an end-to-end image de-hazing network which could be able to minimize the intermediate errors and recovers the haze-free scene from hazy scene. At the same time
  • in broader aspect aim is to analyse the effect of haze on various computer vision applications and develop a real-time product which could be able to nullify the effect of haze on computer vision applications.
